Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao, better known as Camila Cabello, was born on March 3, 1997 in Coj mar, Havana, Cuba. She is an American-Cuban actress, singer, and songwriter, with her name pronounced as "ca-meela ca-beyo". Cabello rose to fame as a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony, but established herself as a solo artist while still in the group. She released collaborations with Shawn Mendes and Machine Gun Kelly, with the latter reaching number four on the US Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, Cabello left Fifth Harmony and released her debut solo single "Crying in the Club". Cabello's debut studio album, Camila, released in 2018, reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart and received platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Her lead single "Havana" topped charts in multiple countries, including the US and UK. In 2019, her duet with Mendes, "Se orita", became her second single to top the Billboard Hot 100. Her second studio album, Romance (2019), topped at number three on the Billboard 200 chart and number one in Canada. In 2021, Cabello made her acting debut in the role of Cinderella in a film. Cabello grew up in East Havana, and later moved to Miami, Florida with her mother when she was six years old. Her father, Alejandro Cabello, was born in Mexico City and is Mexican. Cabello gained American citizenship in 2008 and attended Miami Palmetto High School, but left in the 2012-2013 school year to pursue her singing career. She has a younger sister named Sofia, and is currently in a relationship with Canadian singer Shawn Mendes. Cabello's net worth as of 2023 is $20 million, which she accumulated through her singing, songwriting, and acting career. She has collaborated with Pitbull and J Balvin, and has also endorsed the clothing brand Kohl. Cabello is also a philanthropist and has partnered with Save the Children, donated to GoFundMe campaigns, and participated in non-profit organizations that work for the welfare of female children and poverty-driven communities.
